Abstract

This study aims to contribute to improving knowledge of the Algerian commercial port sector and to highlight the impact of maritime transport and the logistics services of these ports on foreign trade. Accordingly, we analyzed and measured the impact of maritime transport and logistics services provided by Algerian seaports on foreign trade during the period 2017–2025. The study found that maritime transport and logistics services at Algerian seaports, overall, had a positive relationship with foreign trade, indicating a positive impact. However, the total quay length at each port in relation to imports and the distribution of containerized cargo traffic by port at unloading had a negative impact. The model estimation results also showed that vessel dwell time at the quay by port was inversely related to the volume of exports flowing through Algerian ports, indicating a negative impact.
