Human Homeostasis and Its Importance for Maintaining Health

Abstract
Homeostasis is the ability of the human body to maintain relatively stable internal conditions despite continuous changes in the external and internal environment. Regulation of temperature, blood glucose, blood pressure, pH, fluid balance, and electrolyte concentrations depends on coordinated nervous, endocrine, renal, respiratory, and cardiovascular mechanisms. Homeostatic regulation is essential for normal cellular function and health. This paper examines nine major dimensions of human homeostasis, including feedback systems, thermoregulation, glucose regulation, blood pressure, acid-base balance, fluid balance, calcium regulation, physiological adaptation, and disease.
