Abstract

Competency-based teaching has emerged as a new reform model intended to modify the previous model adopted by the Algerian Ministry of National Education. Its purpose is to address the shortcomings that appeared in that model and to integrate acquired knowledge and learning into concrete reality so that they can be used in actual life. This study therefore discusses the effectiveness of the competency-based approach and its contribution to advancing the teaching-learning process. It also examines its role in developing a competent learner who is able to solve problem situations and contribute to their resolution.
